This repair guide is for replacing a faulty Nexus 4 Display Assembly.
Power off the phone by pressing and holding the power button until it shuts down.
This step is necessary to safely remove the back case.
Use a T5 Torx Screwdriver to remove the two screws located at the bottom of the phone.
Pry open the back case by gently prying along its edge with a plastic opening tool, starting at one corner and circling around the phone.
The process may take several minutes and will produce a light snapping noise as the back cover separates from the rest of the device.
Remove the blue tape securing the white antenna cable to the battery.
The battery is securely glued; apply firm pressure when reinstalling.
Be cautious when handling fragile components.
Remove the two 4.8 mm Phillips screws holding the speaker enclosure together.
Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry the speaker upwards.
Pop off the gray connector on the top right of the motherboard using a spudger.
Gently lift the audio jack upwards and to the left.
Do not damage the connector pins or the motherboard.
The ambient light sensor rubber cap may detach with the audio port.
Use a spudger to gently pry the metal tab upwards.
Remove the black tab with a spudger.
Locate and remove the white antenna interconnect cable from the motherboard, situated in the bottom right-hand corner of the phone.
Remove the tab securing the motherboard to the front display assembly, located at the bottom right of the motherboard.
Locate the last tab connecting the motherboard to the front display assembly in the upper right-hand corner.
Careful not to push on the tab too hard, which may damage the motherboard or the display assembly.
Remove the motherboard from the front display assembly using a spudger.
Be careful not to damage any components during removal.
Disconnect the power and volume button switches from the display assembly.
