LG X Style Motherboard Replacement
Ensure the device is powered off and disconnected from all power sources before proceeding.
- iFixit plastic opening tool and Phillips #000 screwdriver required for removal.
- Inspect device for debris or water droplets, using an ESD-safe brush or small dust blower to remove if present.
- Remove any remaining liquids or moisture with a cloth or napkin.
- Review the troubleshooting page if experiencing battery issues or expired motherboard.
- The motherboard is the main printed circuit board located inside your device, containing CPU, RAM, and other components.
Step 1 | Battery
Power down the device and ensure it is completely turned off.
- Insert the plastic opening tool into the bracket space on the back bottom left of the phone.
- Gently twist the tool clockwise until a small gap opens.
- Slide the tool along the gap around the entire device.
Step 2
Insert plastic opening tool into indent below battery, prying up to lift and remove.
Step 3 | Screen
Remove the twelve 3mm screws with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.
Step 4
Apply plastic opening tool pressure between glass screen and plastic edge to create a gap.
- Begin prying at top with plastic opening tool.
- Slide around entire device, applying gentle pressure where needed.
- Lift off and remove the glass screen from the device.
Step 5 | Motherboard
Use a plastic opening tool to slide the edge under each press-fit cable connection and lift up to disconnect.
- For all three ribbon cables, repeat the process of disconnection.
Step 6
Insert the iFixit opening tool under the motherboard's edge.
Lift upwards to release the motherboard from the screen.
