LG Vortex Screen Replacement

Complete the LG Vortex disassembly guide first, then proceed with replacing the screen.

Step 1 | Power down the Phone

Press and hold the power button located at the top of the device to turn it off.

  • Ensure the phone is completely powered down before proceeding with further repairs.

Step 2 | Remove the Back Cover

Locate the thumbnail ridges on the side micro SD slot area and top of the phone.

  • Use a blue plastic opening tool to pry the back cover away from the rest of the phone.
  • Remove the back cover and set it aside.

Use the blue plastic opening tool to remove the battery.

  • Find the small thumbnail notch at the top left corner of the battery.
  • Gently pry out the battery using the thumbnail notch.
  • Set the battery aside.

Step 4 | Unscrew the Back Frame

Use a #00 precision screwdriver to remove all six screws along the phone's edges.

  • Top corners: Remove two screws in each corner.
  • Middle sides: Remove two screws on each side.
  • Bottom corners: Remove two screws in each corner.

Place the removed screws in a container to avoid loss.

Step 5 | Remove the Back Frame

Be careful not to damage the phone's circuit board.

  • Use a blue plastic opening tool to carefully pry the back frame away from the rest of the phone, starting at the micro SD slot.
  • Pry along the edges of the phone to separate the faceplate from the frame.

Step 6 | Screen

Locate the screen connector on the right side of the phone, identifiable by its bronze-plastic appearance.

Exercise care when handling this component to avoid damage.

  • Use a gentle prying motion to unclip the screen connector.

Release the volume button from its small nub attachment.

  • Pull the volume button away from the case.
  • Set it aside in a safe location.

Release the volume button clip by gently prying it away from the surrounding frame.

Remove the two short black screws from the bottom of the phone.

  • These screws hold the USB port to the frame.
  • Place the screws in a safe location.

Perform this step slowly to avoid damaging the system board or the screen.

  • Lift the system board up and away from the front screen.
  • Be cautious, as the two pieces are still attached at the top of the phone.

Loosen one corner of the screen using a flat head screwdriver.

Handle the LCD and its clear face carefully to avoid contamination.

  • Pry the screen away from the frame through the small rectangle holes.
  • Remove the LCD screen.

Step 12

Be extremely cautious when handling the new screen — dirt and dust can severely impact its functionality.

  • Inspect the new screen for any damage before installation.
  • Gently align and secure the screen into position using screen adhesive.

Step 13

Reattach the screen using the provided screws.

  • Connect the battery connector.
  • Replace the back panel and secure it with its original screws.
