LG Vortex Rear Facing Camera Replacement

Replacing the rear-facing camera on an LG Vortex requires patience and care due to its compact and delicate internal components.

  • Power off the device and disconnect it from the charger before proceeding.
  • Gather a few small tools and work in a clean, static-free environment.

The camera module needs to be replaced if your LG Vortex is taking blurry photos or experiencing issues with focusing or launching the rear-facing camera app.

Step 1 | Power down the Phone

  • Collect all required tools.

Using a #00 screwdriver head is critical for this repair.

A precision screwdriver is the recommended tool for this task.

Remove all 6 screws using the same screwdriver.

  • 2 top edge screws (1 in each corner)
  • 2 middle edge screws (on the sides)
  • 2 bottom edge screws (in each corner)

Place the removed screws in a container to prevent loss.

This step is particularly challenging.

  • Locate the system board inside and identify the camera module area at the top.
  • Find the black plastic component surrounding the camera, which sits on but isn't soldered to the board.
  • Pry the two black tabs securing it outward (away from the board), being careful not to let them snap back onto the board.

Step 7

Avoid damaging the speaker cable near the camera.

  • Remove the black plastic piece next to the camera with a blue prying tool.

Step 8

Insert a spudger or opening tool under the camera connector edge and pry straight up.

  • Pry under the connector edge, not the board socket, to avoid damaging it.
  • Lift the black camera housing away from the system board using a prying tool.
  • Work along its edges gradually, avoiding cable tugs.
