This guide is for experienced users only — a near complete teardown is required.
For the repair, you will need a small Phillips head screwdriver and a spudger. A heat gun may also be necessary in some cases.
Clear a flat workspace by placing tools and phones nearby.
Removing the SD card and sim tray now will save time later.
Careful: ordering incorrect parts may cause component damage or incompatibility issues.
Do not use a knife to avoid damaging internal components.
Reference images are provided, showing a disassembled G8 with two cameras (compared to the standard three).
Note that camera components differ between LG V50 global and Korean models:
Remove the LCD display. Apply heat for at least two minutes using an iPone tool or blow dryer to loosen adhesive.
Avoid prying more than 0.25cm into the phone to prevent damage.
Use a plastic spudger or picks instead of metal tools, which can damage internal components.
Remove all screws from the top and left side of the device.
Careful when lifting the wireless charging flap to avoid damage.
Remove the display connectors:
Be gentle when removing the bottom two wires to avoid damaging them.
Disconnection is not necessary, but you can also remove the audio jack connection on the bottom right for added security.
This step is the most challenging part of the procedure — approach with caution.
Remove the camera connector from the board.
The LG v50 global edition has a triangle-shaped back connector, which is incompatible with the Korean model's connector (V50n).
