LG V40 ThinQ Battery Replacement

Power off the LG V40 ThinQ and disconnect it from any external power source before starting replacement procedure.

  • Replace the degraded battery, which can restore device performance.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Apply heat to the back cover using an iOpener or hairdryer, moving it up and down along the back of the phone.

Continue heating until a Opening pick can be slid underneath the back cover.

Be cautious of cracking the back glass when prying the back cover away from the adhesive.

  • Pry the back cover open using the opening.
  • Movements should be slow and deliberate to avoid damage.

Avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor and surrounding components.

  • Disconnect the fingerprint sensor connector carefully from the back camera lens cover.

Remove the back camera lens cover using the opening picks, taking care not to damage the fingerprint sensor.

  • Gently pry off the fingerprint sensor from the back cover.
  • Set aside the fingerprint sensor and camera lens cover, as you will need them to install a new back cover.

Heat the iOpenter and use it to gently warm the back cover.

  • Be cautious of heat, as it can cause damage.

  • Use a cloth or cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol to gently rub away the old adhesive.

Replace old adhesive with new on back cover.

  • Identify areas with remaining old adhesive.
  • Apply thin, even layer of new adhesive to these spots.

Step 7 | Battery

Remove the 14 x 15 mm Phillips #000 screws.

  • Screws are located on the wireless charging coil and loudspeaker module.

Disconnect the battery press connector.

Careful not to damage the battery when prying it loose with opening picks.

  • Insert and gently pry the battery slowly until it comes free from the adhesive.
  • It may take some time to safely remove the battery without damaging it, so be patient.
