LG V30 Rear Camera Replacement

This guide shows you how to replace either the standard or wide-angle back camera on an LG V30 smartphone.

  • The rear cameras can be replaced if they produce blurry or glitchy photos or fail to function altogether.

  • Insert the SIM card eject tool into the small hole on the right side.
  • Pull the SIM card tray out of the phone.

Apply heat with a heat gun to the back cover.

Position a suction cup at the bottom edge of the back cover.

  • Lift the back cover upwards, creating a gap between it and the device's frame.
  • Insert the edge of a plastic card into this newly created space to facilitate removal.

  • Slide a second card into the existing gap, aligning it with the phone's bottom edge.

Slide the cards along the remaining three edges to break the adhesive seal.

Remove the back cover.

Remove 10 Phillips #000 screws from the midframe.

Use a plastic spudger to carefully lift the midframe.

Disconnect all connectors from the midframe.

  • Remove any screws or clips holding it in place.
  • Lift the midframe out of its original position.

Use a plastic spudger to carefully pry up the four press-fit connectors located on the top portion of the motherboard.

Use a plastic spudger to pry up the speaker panel, then carefully lift it away from the phone.

Use a spudger to pry up the two press fit connectors on the bottom part of the midframe.

  • Use a spudger to carefully pry up the motherboard.
  • Lift the motherboard out of the phone's frame.

Flip the motherboard over.

  • Use a plastic spudger to pry up the press-fit connector for the first camera.

Use ESD-safe tweezers to carefully remove the camera.

Use a spudger to pry up the second camera.

  • The press fit connector has already been disconnected, but be careful as the camera module is still lightly adhered to the motherboard.
  • Avoid damaging the surrounding components when removing the second camera with a pair of tweezers.
