LG V30 Plus Motherboard Replacement

Faulty motherboard can cause the device to malfunction or fail to power up.

  • Follow this guide to troubleshoot a non-functional motherboard by replacing it with a new one.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Heat two iOpeners in a microwave and apply them to the phone's edges.

Allow 1-2 minutes for the adhesive to heat up.

  • If necessary, use a heat gun to assist with separating the backing.

Insert a Opening Tool between the rear glass and side of the phone.

  • Pry the glass off just enough for an Opening Pick to be inserted.
  • Use the Opening Tool to pry around the edges, placing additional Opening Picks as needed.

Use a Suction Handle to carefully remove the rear glass.

  • The rear glass should come away from the device once all edges are lifted.

Step 4 | Motherboard

Use your Phillips #00 Screwdriver to remove the ten 4mm screws.

Gently push down on the small black tab with a Spudger to release the protective board.

  • Slide an Opening Tool between the phone and the protective board, and slide along the edges of the phone to unclip it.
  • Wiggle the board back and forth while gently pulling to unclip the last attachment point.

Insert an Opening Tool between the lower protective board and the phone.

  • Slide the tool along the edges, working towards one corner.
  • The protective board should pop off as the tool reaches its edge.

Gently pry each ribbon cable away from the motherboard to disconnect.

Step 8

Remove the motherboard from the phone with care.
