LG V30 Plus Display Assembly Replacement

Dropped phone screens can crack or shatter, causing damage beyond repair.

Prepare to dismantle the display assembly by following these steps.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Heat two iOpeners in a microwave until hot.

Place the hot iOpeners on the phone edges.
Allow to sit for 1-2 minutes for adhesive heating.

If required, use a heat gun for backing separation in the next step.

Step 2

Insert Opening Tool into the seam.

Pry the glass off to insert an Opening Pick.
Slide the Opening Tool around the edges, placing Opening Picks regularly.

Step 3

Ensure all edges of the device are fully released.
Suction Handle: Gently remove the rear glass from the device.

Step 4 | Motherboard

Remove 10 4mm screws.

Use a Phillips #00 Screwdriver.

Step 5

Use a Spudger to press down on the small black tab.

Slide an Opening Tool between the phone and protective board along its edges.
Gently wiggle and pull the protective board while unclipping its last attachment point.

Step 6

Insert a Opening Tool between the lower protective board and the phone.
Guide the tool along all edges to unclip the board, then remove it when it pops off.

Step 7

Disconnect all visible ribbon cables by gently prying them away from the motherboard.

Step 8

Remove the motherboard from the phone with gentle care.

Step 9 | Battery

Apply gentle pressure with a Spudger between the battery and phone to pry each edge away from the board.

Work carefully around the battery as it may be secured by strong adhesive.
If needed, use Opening Picks to keep the battery elevated while prying.

Step 10 | Front-Facing Camera

Use a Spudger to carefully pry away the front-facing camera from its mounting point on the motherboard.

Step 11 | Display Assembly

Disengage the ribbon cable from its connection on the board.
Bend the ribbon cable upwards, ensuring it does not interfere with other components.

Step 12

Warm a pair of iOpeners in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.

Place the heated iOpeners on the edges of the phone and wait for it to heat up the adhesive.
If necessary, use a heat gun to heat the adhesive.

Step 13

Insert the Opening Tool between the metal sides of the phone and the front glass.

Slide the Opening Tool around the display, placing Opening Picks as needed.
Remove the screen from the body using a Suction Handle or your hands.
