This repair guide is for replacing the vibration motor on an LG V20 device.
Locate and press the button on the lower right side of the device.
Never touch a charged lithium-ion battery to metal — risk of explosion.
Remove all screws with a Phillips #00 head and a length of 4mm using a screwdriver.
Check if top and bottom frame sections come loose by hand.
If stuck, proceed with caution: Apply flat-end spudger pressure to a corner, creating a small gap.
Insert an opening pick into the gap on the underside of the phone.
Remove the frame section.
Be careful when handling the top frame section's small silver grating, which covers the speaker and may fall out.
Locate the plastic clamps holding the motherboard cover in place.
Slide the opening pick along the mid frame, then flip it sideways to release the plastic clamps.
Disconnect and remove the motherboard cover.
Disconnect the front camera flex cable using the flat end of a spudger.
Carefully remove the front facing camera with a pair of tweezers if needed; only grip the body of the camera to avoid damaging the sensor pcb, which is glued on and will be ruined by removal.
Disconnect the flex cable of the left rear camera using the flat end of a spudger.
Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully disconnect the display flex cable.
Remove the vibration motor using a pair of tweezers.
If the vibration motor is stuck due to excessive glue, apply heat from an iOpener to loosen the adhesive and try again.
