LG V20 Midframe Assembly Replacement

Open the back cover clamp by pressing the button on the lower right side of the device.

• Press and hold the button until the clamp releases.
• Remove the back cover.

Do not disassemble with a charged lithium-ion battery — risk of fire or explosion.

• Discharge the battery to below 25% before proceeding.
• Fingernail or plastic spudger, insert into small recess on lower edge.
• Pry up carefully, avoiding battery deformation or puncture.
• Remove the battery.

• Remove the sixteen 4mm Phillips #00 screws from the back cover.
• These screws attach the back cover to the motherboard.

Release top and bottom frame sections by creating a small gap at one corner using the flat end of a spudger.

• If they come loose easily, remove with hands.
• If stuck, use spudger to pry off section.

Insert the opening pick into the gap.

• Flip the phone over to access the gap.
• Guide the opening pick along the gap until the frame section releases.

Remove the frame section.

• Repeat with the other end of the phone.

• Be careful not to lose the small silver grating that covers the speaker within the top frame section.

Be careful not to damage the loudspeaker

• Locate the loudspeaker mounted on the motherboard cover.
• Pry up the loudspeaker using an opening pick.

Identify and separate one plastic clamp.

• Apply an opening pick at the lower right corner of the motherboard cover.
• Pry gently until the cover releases from the plastic clamp.

Slide the opening pick along the mid frame, then flip it sideways.

• The plastic clamps holding the motherboard cover should now release.

Remove the motherboard cover.
