LG V10 Side Bumper Replacement

Side bumpers can be prone to damage and must be removed before attempting to access the phone's screen.

  • Prepare a soft cloth and a suction cup handle.
  • Apply even pressure using the suction cup handle to gently pry off the side bumper from the device.
  • Repeat for the other side.

Step 1 | Battery

Insert the flat end of a plastic spudger between the back cover and the charging port, or use your index finger.

  • Be careful not to insert it into the charging port itself.
  • Lift up gently on the spudger or with your finger, allowing the back cover to pop open.
  • The rest of the back cover should now be easily removable by sliding a tool under its edge and working it around the sides.

Use the flat end of a spudger or your finger to gently pry the battery out of its compartment.

Step 3 | Motherboard

Remove the fourteen 3.175 mm screws using a screwdriver with a J000 Phillips bit.

  • Pry part of the panel up starting from the sides of the battery slot using a plastic opening tool.
  • Release the rest of the panel using plastic tweezers to separate it from surrounding plastic bits. Pry the panel up around the fingerprint sensor and camera lens.

Be careful not to damage the fingerprint sensor or camera lens during this process.

Be cautious when handling electronic components.

  • Disconnect the two connectors using the flat end of a plastic spudger.
  • Use plastic tweezers to pry the motherboard loose from its retaining clips.

Step 5 | Side Bumper

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the six 2 mm screws.

  • Set these small screws aside, separated from other parts.

Flip the phone over with the bottom facing upwards.

  • Hold the tweezers and carefully lift the bottom cover held in place by glue.
  • Once removed, gently pull the bottom cover away from the phone using your hands.

Flip the phone over to expose the rear.

  • Push the side bumper towards the bottom edge and then pry it away from the phone.
  • Repeat on the opposite side of the device.
