LG V10 Fingerprint Sensor Replacement

Do not attempt repairs with the device powered on — risk of electrical shock or data loss.

  • Ensure the LG V10 is completely shut down before proceeding.
  • If fingerprint security setup fails to recognize your print, consider replacing the fingerprint sensor.

Step 1 | Battery

Locate the charging port and position the plastic spudger between the metal lining and the back cover.

  • Pry gently with the spudger or your finger to release the back cover from its clips.
  • Once released, slide a finger or the spudger under the edge of the back cover and work it around the sides to remove.

Use your finger or the flat end of the spudger to pry the battery out.

  • Pry the battery at the indicated point next to the battery connector.

Step 3 | Fingerprint Sensor

Remove fourteen 3.175 mm screws using a screwdriver with a J000 Phillips bit.

  • Pry the panel up from the sides of the battery slot using a plastic opening tool.
  • Release the remaining panel clips using plastic tweezers and pry the panel up around the fingerprint sensor and camera lens.

Remove the back panel and inspect its underside.

  • Pry up the metal plate covering the power button and fingerprint sensor with plastic tweezers, working to the indicated length shown in the picture.
  • Use your finger to pop out the power button and fingerprint sensor from its slot.
  • Remove the plastic frame surrounding the component using plastic tweezers.

Use plastic tweezers to pry off the plastic layer holding the power button/fingerprint sensor in place.

  • Remove the power button/fingerprint sensor component with plastic tweezers.
  • Replace it with the new component, ensuring proper alignment within its plastic frame.
  • Be careful when handling the B-7000 glue. Apply a small amount to attach the removed plastic layer back to the power button/fingerprint sensor.
