LG Tribute Motherboard Replacement
Motherboard: The main printed circuit board connecting and controlling various phone components.
Step 1 | Battery
Remove the back cover using the plastic opening tool.
Step 2
Remove the battery from its location.
- Ensure the (+) and (-) labels on the new battery align correctly with the phone's charging contacts.
Step 3 | Mid-panel
Remove eight 4mm screws with a Phillips head 000 screwdriver (PH000).
Step 4
Avoid using excessive force or prying the panel loose — risk of breaking the delicate tabs.
- Use a plastic opening tool to loosen the tabs around the edge of the phone.
- Inserting a thin piece of plastic will help prevent opened tabs from locking back into place.
Step 5 | Motherboard
Use a plastic opening tool to disconnect the touchscreen from the motherboard.
Be careful not to damage any components during this process.
- The motherboard will now be completely free from the front panel.
Step 6 | Motherboard
Disconnect power source and ground yourself.
- Slide the SIM card out of its housing.
- Use a plastic opening tool to remove the front-facing camera.
- Use a plastic opening tool to remove the rear-facing camera.
- Connect the removed components to the new motherboard in their designated positions.
Be careful not to damage any surrounding components.
