LG Tribute HD Flex Cable Replacement
The flex cable is a delicate component that requires care when handling.
- Located near the motherboard, identify the flex cable.
- Gently lift the cable to avoid applying excessive force, which can cause damage.
Step 1 | Battery and SD Card
Use a fingernail or plastic opening tool to pry the back cover loose from its cutout.
- Insert the tool into the cutout on the back cover.
- Pry outward to remove the back cover.
Step 2
- Remove the battery from the phone.
- As depicted, slide the SD Card out of its slot.
Step 3 | Flex Cable
Remove 12 x 2mm JIS #00 screws from the mid-frame.
Step 4
Use a plastic opening tool to remove the antenna extender from the bottom.
Step 5
Remove the mid-frame with your fingers.
Step 6
Disconnect the front camera and rear camera connectors using a plastic opening tool.
- Remove the front camera module from the phone.
- Remove the rear camera module from the phone.
Step 7
Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry up the front facing speaker and then remove it from the phone.
Step 8
Use a plastic opening tool to disconnect the LCD from the motherboard.
Step 9
Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry up the motherboard from the display housing.
- Continue prying until the motherboard is separated from the display housing.
- Once freed, gently remove the motherboard from the phone.
Step 10
Use your fingers to carefully disconnect the flex cables from the phone.
- Gently grasp each cable and pull it away from its connector.
- Work slowly and patiently, as these cables can be fragile.
