LG Stylo 3 Screen and Digitizer Replacement

Step 1 | Remove back cover of the phone.

Remove the back cover using a flat pry tool or your fingernail.

Step 2 | Remove the battery.

Remove the battery from the device casing.

Step 3 | Remove the 12 Philips screws

Remove twelve Philips screws, placing them safely aside for reassembly.

  • Disconnect the stylus from its position on the left top rail area.

Step 4 | Remove the plastic shield.

Remove the plastic shield from the outer using either your fingers or a flat pry tool.

Be cautious when using a flat pry tool to avoid damaging surrounding components.

The motherboard will be exposed once the shield is removed.

Step 5 | Loosen the flex cables.

Disconnect the flex cable attached to the rear camera module located on the top middle section of the motherboard.

  • Also, detach the flex cable connected to the front camera module situated on the top right corner of the board.
  • Last, remove the main motherboard cable from its position at the middle bottom area of the circuit board.

Step 6 | Remove the rear facing camera.

Remove the rear-facing camera. It is typically held by a flex cable.

  • Disconnect the flex cable from the camera.
  • Place the rear-facing camera aside for reassembly.

Step 7 | Remove the motherboard.

Be cautious when removing the motherboard, as it may catch on the rear camera bracket's lip.

  • Loosen the motherboard from the bottom first.
  • Lift near the volume button and gently pull towards the right and then upwards to dislodge.

Step 8 | Removal of the speaker for reassembly.

Locate the speaker on the bottom right of the device.

  • Insert a small screwdriver into the speaker and lift up carefully.
  • Use a flat pry tool to assist in releasing the adhesive holding it in place.
  • Remove the speaker completely, then reattach it securely to the new digitizer.

Step 9 | Remove vibrator, front speaker, and front camera.

Remove the vibrator using a flat pry tool, prying gently to release the adhesive.

  • Reattach it during reassembly on the new digitizer.

Prying too aggressively can damage the vibrator or digitizer.

Remove the speaker from its housing using a pair of tweezers, prying gently to release it.

  • Reattach it during reassembly on the new digitizer.

Gentle removal is crucial to avoid damaging the speaker or digitizer.

Remove the front facing camera using a pair of tweezers or gently pulling up, taking care not to damage the adhesive ring.

  • Remove and reattach the adhesive ring during reassembly on the new digitizer.

Be cautious when handling the camera and its adhesive ring to avoid damage or misalignment.

Step 10 | *** If needed remove the side rails and volume assembly.

Remove side rails and volume button if not equipped on new digitizer.

  • Use a flat pry tool starting from either end of the digitizer.
  • Gently slide the pry tool between the rail and digitizer, lifting up slowly.
  • Be cautious with the right side volume button, as it may come loose.
  • Use a flat pry tool to carefully remove the volume button flex cable.
  • To loosen adhesive, apply a slight amount of heat over the cable.
  • Reassemble the volume button, flex cable, and side rails to the new digitizer.
