LG Stylo 2 Plus Screen Replacement

Replace the screen if it has a cracked screen or dead pixels.

  • You will need a heat gun and several other tools.
  • Be extremely careful when removing ribbon cables, as this is a challenging task.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Insert a spudger into the rear case opening.

  • Slide the spudger along the edge, parallel to the phone's frame.
  • Force the casing to pop off.

Step 2 | Battery

Insert spudger or fingernail into dimple at battery bottom.

  • Lift battery upwards by inserting tool.
  • Firmly grasp the battery and remove from phone.

Step 3 | Mid-Frame

Remove the JIS #000 screwdriver, then take out the eleven 4mm screws surrounding the mid-frame.

Insert metal spudger into dimple at base of cover.

  • Pry upward to remove mid-frame.

Step 5 | Screen

  • Lift the ribbon connector with tweezers to separate the rear camera from the mainboard.
  • Remove the rear camera from its housing by gently prying it upwards using fingers or tweezers.

Step 6

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the front camera.

  • Lift out the front camera from the mainboard.
  • Remove the rubber camera housing by lifting up on it.

Step 7

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the mainboard by prying it loose at its connector.

  • Identify the ribbon cable connected between the screen and the mainboard.
  • Pry the connector to release the cable, taking care not to damage any pins.

Carefully lift the mainboard from the housing.

Set the mainboard aside safely, out of reach of any components or cables.

Remove audio jack using tweezers or fingers with a gentle prying motion upwards.

Use the tweezers to lift up the ribbon cable connector.

  • The front speaker unit should release from its connection.

Remove the buzzer with care to avoid damage or skin irritation from the adhesive.

  • Insert the tweezers under the buzzer's adhesive.
  • Pry upwards carefully to release the buzzer.

  • Pull upwards on one edge of the adhesive tape using tweezers.
  • Gently remove the tape, exposing the entire ribbon cable.

Ensure safety glasses are worn if not already in place — proper eye protection is crucial when working with glass.

  • Apply heat gun to outside edge of screen on low setting to loosen adhesive, warming it evenly.
  • Do not hold heat gun stationary for extended periods; maintain constant movement and temperature control.

Avoid applying excessive pressure or holding tool in one spot for too long when prying the screen loose.

  • Pry the screen upwards from lip using an iFixit opening tool, working carefully to avoid damage.
  • Once screen is lifted, pull ribbon cable out of phone through slot at bottom edge.
