LG Realm Motherboard Replacement
Ensure the device is fully powered off and the battery is already removed, along with the back casing.
Step 1 | Battery
- Insert the thumbnail into the MicroUSB port and pull up to loosen the back.
- Loosen the case on all four sides using a nail.
- Once loose, carefully remove the back case.
Step 2
Remove the thumb nut by pulling it away from the phone.
- Release the thumbnail that is secured in a tab located below the battery.
- Once released, carefully remove the thumbnail from its location.
Step 3 | Plastic Midframe
Use the Phillips #J000 screwdriver to remove the 11 plastic midframe screws.
- The screws are located around the midframe.
Step 4
Use the plastic opening tool to carefully pry apart the midframe from the rest of the phone.
Step 5 | Rear Facing Camera
Locate the rear facing camera.
- Use a plastic opening tool to pry apart the cable from its connection point.
Step 6
Remove the ribbon cable.
- The camera is now removable.
- Use your fingers to lift out the rear-facing camera.
Step 7 | Front Facing Camera
Locate the front-facing camera at the top left corner of the motherboard.
- Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry the ribbon cable loose from the phone.
Step 8
Remove the ribbon cable to access the front facing camera.
- The camera can then be removed by hand.
Step 9 | Motherboard
Identify the sisterboard connected to the motherboard via an orange ribbon cable.
- Use a plastic opening tool to carefully disengage the connection between the sisterboard and the phone.
Step 10
Locate the ribbon cables in the top right corner of the motherboard.
- Use a plastic opening tool to remove the ribbon cables from the phone.
Step 11
Disconnect the ribbon cable connecting the antenna to the motherboard using a plastic opening tool.
Step 12
Remove the motherboard with a plastic opening tool.
