LG Phoenix 2 Charge Port Replacement

Dust and dirt buildup in the charging port can cause charging issues.

  • Charging port damage may be due to excessive dust or dirt accumulation.
  • This guide is for replacing the charging port on LG Phoenix 2 model LG-K371.
  • You will need to replace the charging port if your phone:
    • Won't charge at all,
    • Stops charging when moving the charger cable,
    • Has a damaged or faulty charging port.

Step 1 | Battery

Locate the notch at the bottom edge of the phone.

  • Insert a fingernail into the notch.
  • Pull on the back cover with one hand while holding the rest of the phone steady.
  • Run your fingernail along the edge to release the back cover.

Locate the notch at the bottom edge of the battery and use your fingernail to pry it open.

  • Insert your fingernail into the notch.
  • Gently pull the battery out.

Step 3 | Motherboard

  • Remove all nine 3.0mm screws on the back of the phone.
  • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove each screw, including the one attaching the camera lens.

Insert the plastic opening tool between the screen and the outer chrome edge.

  • Pry gently to loosen the bottom shield from the rest of the phone.

Disconnect all three ribbon connectors from the motherboard using a plastic opening tool:

  • Front camera connector
  • Rear camera connector
  • Screen connector

Separate the motherboard from the back frame using a plastic opening tool.

  • Remove the motherboard from the device.

Step 7 | Charge Port

Careful handling of hot components required.

  • Locate the USB port on the motherboard.
  • Desolder the USB port from the motherboard using a soldering iron.

Remove the USB port from the motherboard by desoldering it.

  • Set aside the removed USB port.
