LG Optimus V Antenna Replacement

This repair may cause permanent damage if not done correctly.

  • Power off your LG Optimus V and disconnect it from any charger.
  • Replace the antenna to resolve connectivity issues.
  • In Step 4, take extra care as incorrect handling may damage your device.
  • Desolder the old antenna and solder a new one into place on the circuit board in Step 5.

Step 1 | Battery

Flip the phone over with the rear casing upwards.

Locate the opening above the camera.

  • Use a spudger to detach the back cover.

Remove the battery gently with your spudger.

Remove the six screws from the silver casing.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to pry off the silver casing.

Remove each area holding the parts together with a plastic opening tool.

Remove the Y3114C module using a plastic opening tool.

  • Pry off the camera assembly using a plastic opening tool.

Step 7 | Antenna

Desolder the antenna connections on the motherboard using a soldering iron.

Step 8

Remove the old antenna by desoldering it.

  • Solder a new antenna into place.
