LG Optimus L9 P769 VGA Front Facing Camera Replacement

Be extremely careful when handling fragile components, such as the motherboard, which can be easily damaged.

  • Disassemble the device completely to access the front facing camera.
  • Remove the screen to reach the camera.
  • When removing ribbon cables, handle them carefully to avoid tears or breaks.

Step 1 | Motherboard

Place the device face down on a flat surface.

Use a prying tool to carefully remove the back cove.

  • Lift the battery out of its compartment using your finger or the prying tool.

Careful not to damage the back frame when prying with a small plastic tool.

  • Remove all 10 4.5mm Phillips screws securing the back frame to the phone case.
  • Pry the back frame from the sides using a small plastic tool.

Hold the tweezers and pinch the antenna node's sides.

  • Pull the antenna node straight up.
  • Use a small prying tool to carefully remove the ribbon cables from the motherboard.

Use a spudger or small prying tool to carefully lift the motherboard out of its chassis.

Step 5 | Display Screen

Careful not to damage the latches connecting the digitizer to the chassis.

  • Use a spudger or small prying tool to carefully pry off the latches.
  • Avoid forcing open, as the latches are easily damaged.

Turn the phone face down.

  • Remove the plastic housing for the front speaker.

It should come off easily, but be cautious not to damage any surrounding components.

Slide the connector out through the chassis hole at a slow pace.

Remove the primary or rear camera using a small opening tool to pry off the adhesive and lift the camera up with tweezers.

  • Use the same small opening tool to remove the taped connector from the phone's chassis.
  • Verify that all parts of the connector are no longer adhered to the chassis.
  • The connector should be able to slide through the chassis hole, completely separating the LCD screen from the phone.

Step 9 | VGA Front Facing Camera

Lift off the front facing camera using a prying tool.
