LG Optimus G Battery Replacement

This guide will walk you through replacing the battery in your LG Optimus G using just a few essential tools.

Step 1 | Remove the simcard

Use a SIM eject tool to release the SIM card.

  • Remove the two screws (T5) with a T5 screwdriver.
  • Use a guitar pick or plastic opening tool to release clips on top and sides.

Insert an opening pick and carefully pry the rear case away from the device.

Step 4 | Removing the battery

Remove the tape covering the battery.

  • Also remove all screws and the antenna connector cord.

Careful when removing the golden tape, as it is situated below the antenna connector cord.

Remove the screws holding the battery cable connector in place.

  • Next, disconnect the battery cable.

Use caution when heating the battery as it may cause thermal damage.

  • Apply moderate heat to loosen the adhesive using a heat gun.
  • Be patient and gentle when separating the battery from the case.

Use blunt plastic tools to avoid puncturing the battery.

  • Pry the battery up from the case with care.

Remove the old battery.
