LG Optimus G Pro Motherboard Replacement

Prerequisite knowledge is essential — complete the prerequisite guide beforehand to avoid complications.

  • Identify and locate the logic board, responsible for the phone's core electronic functions.

Step 1 | Remove Back Cover.

Ensure the device is not charging before starting work.

  • Locate the bottom left corner of the phone, where there is a small indent.
  • Pry the back casing loose using a plastic opening tool or your fingernail.
  • Pull the back casing off to access the internal components.

Step 2 | Remove the Battery.

Remove the outer casing properly.

  • The back panel should resemble this layout after removal.
  • Pull up on the red mark to remove the battery.
  • The battery will come out at an angle and can be easily removed.
  • Safely proceed with caution once the battery is removed.

Step 3 | Screw Removal

Remove the battery first.

  • Count and locate the 14 Phillips head screws on the back of the inner case.
  • Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove each screw, storing them in a safe place where they won't get lost.

Step 4 | Remove Cover

Remove all screws.

  • Insert an opening tool into a corner, sliding it along the edge.
  • The tool loosens the edges; pull to pry apart the inside cover from the shell.

Step 5 | Completion

The inner cover has been successfully removed.

  • You now have clear access to the internal components of your phone.

Step 6 | Remove the Ribbon Cable

Risk of damage to internal components if improper disconnection method used.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to pry between the cable and phone.
  • Apply even pressure until the cable disconnects from the logic board.

Step 7 | Remove the Camera

Remove the Ribbon Cable.

  • The Rear-Facing Camera can now be removed by hand.

Step 8 | Remove the Ribbon Cable

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the phone using a plastic opening tool.

Apply even pressure when separating the connector.

Step 9 | Remove the Sisterboard.

Prying at the wrong area can cause damage.

  • Pry at the metal platform that the sister board sits on, not the orange printed circuit board.
  • Use your prying tool to pry at the right red marked corner and pull at the metal platform under the circuit board.
  • Raise the board slightly then pull along the underside until the left red mark.
  • If still stuck, try prying at the orange mark but always pull at the metal platform.

Step 10 | Completed.

Use a plastic opening tool or your fingers to lift and remove the sisterboard.

Step 11 | Remove Ribbon Cables

Disconnect the ribbon cables and antenna from the logic board using a plastic opening tool.

Step 12 | Remove Adhesive.

Use a spudger to pry the logic board loose, starting at the top right corner.

  • Gently slide the spudger along the logic board towards the center orange mark.
  • Apply gentle pressure parallel to the logic board until it comes free.
