LG Optimus F3 digitizer screen glass replacement

This guide is for advanced users only and involves partial disassembly of the device.

  • Targeted replacement of the digitizer glass on an LG Optimus F3 LS720 phone.
  • This repair also covers almost complete teardown procedures.

Step 1 | Digitzer Glass

  • Take out the back cover.
  • Remove any inserted SD card.
  • Extract the SIM card.
  • Disconnect and take out the battery.

Remove 10 Philips head screws using a Philips head screwdriver.

Use a pry tool to gently pry the back plate off.

  • Pry around the edges, releasing each tab as you go.
  • Work your way around the entire phone until the back plate is removed.

Disconnect the camera cable with a pry tool.

Be careful not to damage the cable connector.

  • Remove the camera from its mounting points.

  • Disconnect four ribbon cables using a pry tool.
  • Remove two antenna wires using the same pry tool.

Remove the logic board using a pry tool.

Use the preset pry tool to carefully remove the headphone jack.

Use a pry tool to gently pry the front frame away from the main body of the phone.

Remove any rubber block from the digitizer cable slot.

  • Pull the digitizer cable through the slot carefully.
  • If the slot is too narrow, ensure you have removed the headphone jack.

Step 10

Apply gentle heat from a heat gun or blow dryer to loosen the adhesive.

  • Use a pry tool to carefully lift out the glass.

Step 11

Remove any remaining adhesive from the frame.

  • If the old adhesive is still intact, consider reusing it.
  • If not reusing the old adhesive, apply a new one.

Step 12

Install the replacement glass.

Verify the speaker cover is securely fastened.

  • Reattach the battery connector.
  • Replace the back panel in its original position.
