LG Optimus 3D Screen Replacement

The display produces the images on your phone, while the digitizer, located within the front glass, senses finger touches.

Step 1 | Back Cover Removal

Locate and gently pry open the back cover using your fingernail.

Use the notch at the bottom of the phone for added leverage.

Step 2 | Battery Removal

The battery is located in the lower section of the phone, identified by its large black rectangular shape.

  • Locate the semi-circular notch at the bottom edge of the battery.
  • Press against and up on the battery to release it from its compartment.

Step 3 | Screw Removal

Remove all PH00 screws marked on the diagram.

  • Extract 9 screws with a length of 5.5mm.
  • Extract 4 screws with a length of 4mm.

Step 4 | Bottom Cover Removal

Remove the bottom cover by gently pulling it downwards.

Step 5 | Mid-Cover Bezel Removal

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry around the device's perimeter.

Be cautious not to damage the delicate ribbons behind the buttons and ports.

  • Remove the button covers, located under the Mid-Cover Bezel.
  • Set the button covers aside for later use.

Step 6 | Ribbon Cable Disconnection

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the black SIM card board using a spudger or plastic opening tool.

Step 7 | Adhesive Loosening

Never apply excessive heat — risk of damage or burn.

  • Apply heat using a hair-dryer on high or a heat-gun on low.
  • Heat for 1 minute at a time, allowing the device to cool slightly before reheating.
  • Avoid heating for more than 30 seconds consecutively.

Step 8 | SD/SIM Card Board Removal

Use a plastic spudger to gently pry the board upwards.

  • Pry the small tab attached to the camera unit at the same time.

If separation is difficult, apply additional heat before retrying.

Step 9 | Disconnect Ribbon Cables

Use a spudger or plastic opening tool to gently lift the ribbon cables connected to the motherboard.

  • Be careful not to damage the ribbon cables — risk of electrical damage.

  • Gently lift out the button tabs, held in with light adhesive, using a spudger.

Step 10 | Disconnect Antenna

Disconnect the antenna cable from both its mounting points.

  • Release the connection near the bottom of the phone.
  • Remove the other end connected to the motherboard.

Step 11 | Remove Motherboard

Use a spudger to carefully lift the motherboard assembly out of the case.

  • Be mindful of the camera's ribbon cable to avoid snagging the motherboard.

Step 12 | Ribbon Cable Disconnection

Disconnect the ribbon cable attached to the headphone jack assembly using a plastic opening tool.

Step 13 | Headphone Jack Removal

Remove the Headphone Jack by gently prying it away from the phone's body.

Step 14 | Front Bezel Removal

Be careful not to damage the LCD when prying.

  • Use a pry tool to gently remove the front bezel.
  • Take your time as there are many clips holding it together.

Do not poke too far into the phone to avoid damaging internal components.

Step 15 | Pull Ribbon Cable End Through

  • Pull the ribbon cable through the slot on the back.
  • This will allow you to fully separate the front and back portions of the phone.

Step 16 | LCD Removal

Avoid touching the LCD and digitizer panels to prevent damage.

  • Pry the LCD from the phone half using care.
  • Avoid contact with the front of the digitizer panel or its back side.
  • If the glass is cracked, be cautious to prevent cuts from falling shards.

Step 17 | Note on Reassembly

Ensure the LCD ribbon cable is fed through its designated slot before reassembling the phone.

  • Align the front and back sections of the phone for proper reassembly.
  • Guide the LCR (Liquid Crystal Ribbon) cable into the correct position on the motherboard.
