Locate and identify the flex cable connected to the LCD, which needs to be removed.

  • Note: Flex cables with similar connectors are present; ensure correct identification before proceeding.
  • Look for the gold foil markings on the motherboard. The first area where the gold foil was removed should now expose two visible connectors.

Step 11

Step 11 image

Careful handling is required as multiple pins need to be detached.

  • Use the guitar pick to separate the glass housing from the LCD screen's housing.
  • Examine the diagram provided for accurate detachment of the pins before proceeding.

Step 12

Do not attempt to remove glass completely as the flex cable pin will obstruct the opening.

Step 13 image

Careful handling required since the LCD is already damaged.

  • Use a slotted screwdriver to gently lift the LCD out of its housing.

Step 14

Step 14 image

Do not attempt to remove the LCD panel yet.

  • Use a sharp small knife or a razor blade to carefully cut the flex cables close to the LCD.
  • Begin cutting where the upper red arrow indicates and work down to the second arrow, taking care to avoid damaging surrounding components.

Once the flex cables are cut, you should be able to remove the LCD panel.

  • Old flex cables will now be visible on the opposite side. These must also be removed as part of the replacement process.

Be gentle when removing the gold foil under the cable, as tearing it apart will cause damage.

  • Locate the gold foil and begin to carefully pull it off, starting from where I marked with an arrow.
  • Continue until you reach a light blue foil that is attached to the gold foil; leave this attached.

You will need to tear the flex cable that lies beneath the black foil covering the battery compartment, as it will not reattach properly.

  • Remove the black foil and locate the red lines indicating where the flex cable is positioned.
  • Carefully pull the flex cable out of its compartment.

Step 16
