LG Lucid 4G LCD Replacement

Be cautious of damaged components — particularly the ribbon cables — which may tear if mishandled.

Step 1 | Battery

Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off.

  • Release the power button and select "Power Off".
  • Select "OK" when prompted that the phone will shut down.

Flip the phone over, exposing the back plate.

  • Lift the back plate open from the bottom using a fingernail or prying tool and the notch at the bottom.

Locate the notch at the bottom center and use it to pry out the battery using a tool or your fingertip.

Step 4 | LCD Assembly

Remove 7 Phillips head screws from the back of the phone.

Locate the small notches along the phone's sides.

  • Position a plastic pry tool in one notch and carefully begin prying around the phone's edges.
  • Apply gentle yet firm pressure as needed, taking care to avoid damage.

Remove the Phillip's head screw securing the SIM card assembly.

Locate the SIM card assembly.

  • Gently lift the corner of the SIM card assembly as shown.
  • The SIM card assembly is still attached to the motherboard via a ribbon cable.
  • Be careful not to damage the press-fit connector when releasing it.

  • Lift the press-fit ribbon cable connector with a spudger or prying tool.

The camera may detach and need to be set aside.

  • Disconnect the five flex connectors on the motherboard.
  • Lift the motherboard from its mounting points.

Remove the camera using a gentle lifting motion.

  • Lift the headphone jack assembly to expose the touch screen digitizer flex cable.
  • Release the touch screen digitizer flex cable connector.

Step 10

Be gentle when separating the touch screen assembly at the top, as the ribbon may detach.

  • Use a plastic pry tool to start removing the touch screen assembly.
  • Slide the pry tool along the gap between the digitizer and the LCD mount to release the connectors.
  • Once separated, carefully feed the ribbon through its slot in the housing.

Remove the LCD screen from its housing.

  • Gently peel the ribbon from the back of the housing.
  • Feed the detached ribbon through the bottom of the display housing.
