LG K7 Motherboard Replacement

Water damage or motherboard issues may render the device unusable, but replacing the motherboard with a new one can restore functionality.

Obtain a replacement motherboard.
Replace the damaged motherboard with the new one.

Step 1 | Motherboard

Place phone face-down on a flat surface.

Use your fingernail or a plastic spudger to carefully pry open the device's rear casing.

Step 2

Do not force the battery out — risk of damage.

Lift the battery out using a plastic spudger or your finger nail.
The battery should lift out with minimal effort.

Step 3

Remove the 3.5mm screw using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Lift out the screw and set it aside.

Step 4

Remove the bottom panel using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Unscrew the three 3.5mm screws in the bottom portion of the phone.
Set the screws aside safely.

Step 5

The plastic component may suddenly detach when pried loose.

Insert a spudger under the plastic piece.
Gently pry the component away from its mounting point.

Step 6

Unscrew the housing using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Remove the five 3.5 mm screws from the housing.
Pry out the housing with a spudger to expose the motherboard.

Step 7

Never touch the motherboard pins with metal tools — risk of short circuit.

Use a plastic spudger to carefully lift out the motherboard.

Step 8

Flip the device over and identify the connection point between the digitizer and motherboard.

Utilize a plastic spudger to release the connection.

Step 9

Remove the motherboard from your LG K7, taking care not to damage any internal components.
