LG K7 Home Button Cable Replacement

The home button cable is prone to failure due to shock or excessive wear.

Avoid excessive force, risk of damage.

  • Place a fingernail in the slot at the bottom edge.
  • Pull up on the back panel while steadying the phone with your hand.

Locate the battery release slot on the bottom edge and insert your fingernail.

  • Pull the battery straight out using a slight amount of force.

Be careful not to damage the camera button frame, as it's made of thin plastic.

  • Remove the nine with a JIS #00 screwdriver.
  • The bottom three screws will release the port cover. Remove them first.
  • Lift off the port cover.
  • Use a spudger to carefully pop off the camera button frame.
  • The home button should come off with the frame.

Bending the outer frame or screen can cause severe damage to the phone.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to separate the screen from the outer frame.
  • Release each plastic tab one at a time around the phone for easy removal.

Locate the home button cable, which is attached to both the front and back of the outer frame with adhesive.

Orient the frame so that the screen area faces you, then peel back the black rubber tab covering the wire.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to detach the cable from the frame, allowing it to hang loose.
  • Flip the phone over and use a spudger to detach the button sensor part of the cable from the back of the frame.
  • Pull the exposed cable through the hole as you remove the component.
