The following steps will replace the fingerprint scanner in an LG K40S device.
Do not open your phone with a battery level above 25% — risk of battery fire.
Use a SIM Eject tool, such as a bent paperclip, to eject the 2 SIM & SD Card trays.
Verify that the back panel is constructed of plastic to minimize risk of damage.
Do not immediately pull the back panel completely, as this may damage the flex cable for the fingerprint scanner.
Remove the back panel on the right-hand side, referring to image 1 for visual guidance.
Remove the black tape covering the fingerprint scanner with your fingers or a plastic pick, taking care not to push too far.
Careful when pushing through the back panel to avoid damage.
