LG K40 Disassembly

Welcome to our disassembly guide for the LG K40.

Step 1 | Preparing for Disassembly

Place the back of the phone against the heat pad.

  • Apply heat until the phone is hot to the touch.

Step 2 | Removing the Back

Place the phone screen facedown away from the heatpad.

  • Use a spudger to carefully pry off the phone's back panel, taking care not to damage the rear camera ribbon cable.
  • Once the back is free, set it aside next to the phone for continued disassembly.

Step 3 | Detaching the Rear Camera

Remove the rear touch sensor ribbon cable using a spudger.

Ensure all cables are secure before setting the back panel aside.

Step 4 | Unscrewing the Motherboard Cover

Use a PH000 screw bit to remove the 15 screws from the internal motherboard casing.

  • One of the 15 screws is visible in the provided image.

Step 5 | Removing the Motherboard Covers

Push in the plastic tabs around the casing to release the top half of the cover.

  • Lift off the top half gently.

Be gentle when removing the bottom half, as it may damage the board underneath.

  • Push in the plastic tabs to release the bottom half of the casing.
  • Lift off the bottom half carefully.

Step 6 | Removing the battery

Unplug the ribbon cable near the top of the battery.

  • Lift the battery out using a spudger.
  • If necessary, use the heat pad to help loosen the battery.

Step 7 | Removing the Motherboard

Lift the Motherboard by first removing the SIM Card tray located at the bottom right half of the casing.

  • Gently lift the board away from its retaining tabs.
  • Once free, lift the board completely away from the phone case.

Step 8 | Removing the Vibrating Unit

Lift the vibrating unit from the top left corner of the case, taking care to support its weight.

Step 9 | All Done!
