LG K30 Charging Port Replacement

Step 1 | Battery

Discharging the battery below 25% prevents a potential fire hazard when handling lithium-ion cells.

  • Power off your phone before proceeding with disassembly.
  • Pry open the back case using a Jimmy and a Metal Spudger, taking care to avoid sudden openings.

  • Remove the 13 x 3.4 mm Phillips #00 screws.
  • These screws secure the midframe to the display assembly.

Use a metal spudger or plastic opening tool to pry open the outer cover.

Detach the battery connector from the logic board using the flat end of a spudger.

Never apply excessive force when prying the battery, as it may puncture or cause damage.

  • Use a spudger to carefully pry the battery from the phone.
  • Pry gently and avoid bending or puncturing the battery.
  • The removal process may be hindered by adhesive on both components, requiring patience and caution.

Step 6 | Motherboard

  • Use a spudger to disconnect the front camera connector.
  • Use a spudger to disconnect the display cable connector.

Separate the motherboard assembly from the display assembly using a spudger or your hands.

Step 8 | Charging Port

Do not touch the soldering iron — risk of severe burns.

  • Peel back the gold plastic protective film on the motherboard to expose 4 solder points.
  • Use a desoldering wick to remove these solder points. Refer to our guide on soldering and desoldering techniques for further instructions.

Turn the motherboard over and use a soldering iron to heat the solder on the charging port terminals.

  • Allow the solder to cool slightly before removing it with a desoldering wick.
