Step 1 | Remove the back cover and battery

Locate the plastic clips on the back cover.

  • fingernail or opening pick into the designated area to release the clips.
  • battery up.

Step 2 | Midframe

Remove 11 Philips screws.

Insert an opening pick into the gap between the digitizer and midframe.

  • Pull the midframe outwards to disengage plastic clips.
  • Disengage bottom clips carefully, near the headphone jack.

Be gentle around the headphone jack area.

Once clips are released, move midframe outwards and downwards.

Step 4 | Rear-Facing Camera

Remove the front camera flex from its connector using a Halberd spudger or an opening pick.

Step 5 | Motherboard Removal

Remove the display flex cable from its socket using a Halberd spudger or opening pick.

  • Insert an opening pick between the motherboard and frame, starting from the bottom.
  • Lever apart to separate the two components carefully.

Be careful not to break the motherboard section.

For the top part of the motherboard, use gentle force as it is lightly adhered to the frame.

  • Compare the original and replacement display assembly after removing the motherboard.
  • Some components may already be installed on the new display assembly.

Step 6 | Volume Buttons Removal

Locate the volume button assembly on the frame.

  • Insert the tip of a spudger into the gap between the volume button assembly and the frame.
  • Gently pry the fragile plastic tabs upwards and outwards.
