Step 1 | Remove the back cover and battery

Locate the plastic clips at the back cover.

  • Insert a finger or opening pick to disengage the clips.
  • Lift the battery upwards from its housing.

Step 2 | Midframe

Remove the 11 Philips screws.

Insert an opening pick between digitizer and midframe.

Careful not to damage screen or other components.

  • Pull midframe outwards to release plastic clips.
  • Pay particular attention to clips around headphone jack.
  • Once all clips are disengaged, move midframe down and away from headphone jack.

Step 4 | Rear-Facing Camera

Use a Halberd spudger or an opening pick to pry the front camera flex cable away from its connector.

  • Locate the front camera flex cable and its connector on the motherboard.
  • Gently insert the spudger or pick under the cable's edge, then carefully pry it loose from the connector.

Step 5 | Motherboard Removal

Disconnect the display flex cable from its socket on the motherboard using a Halberd spudger or an opening pick.

  • Insert an opening pick between the motherboard and frame, starting from the bottom.
  • Lever apart carefully, avoiding damage to the long section of the motherboard.
  • Be cautious not to break the top part of the motherboard, which is lightly adhered to the frame.

Compare the original and replacement display assembly after removal. Some components may already be installed on the new part.

Step 6 | Removing the vibrator

Use a metal spudger to carefully pry the vibrator motor away from its mounting.

  • Insert the tip of the metal spudger into the right side of the motor.
  • Pry the motor upwards to release it from its adhesive mount.
