Step 1 | Remove the back cover and battery

Insert a fingernail or opening pick into the notch to release the plastic clips.

  • Lift the battery up from its socket.

Step 2 | Midframe

  • Remove all 11 Philips screws.

Use a precision opening pick or your fingernails to pry the midframe away from the digitizer.

  • Pull the midframe outwards to release the plastic clips.
  • Carefully disengage the bottom clips where the headphone jack passes through.
  • Move the midframe downwards and outwards to completely separate it from the phone's frame.

Step 4 | Rear-Facing Camera

Disconnect the front camera flex from the motherboard using a Halberd spudger or an opening pick.

Step 5 | Motherboard Removal

Disconnect the display flex cable using a Halberd spudger or opening pick.

  • Insert an opening pick between motherboard and frame, starting from the bottom.
  • Lever apart carefully to avoid breaking the long section of the motherboard.

Be careful with top part of motherboard as it is lightly adhered to the frame.

Compare original and replacement parts after removing motherboard, some components may be pre-installed on new display assembly.

Step 6 | Separating the Headphone Jack

Locate the headphone jack and its attached flex cable on the frame.

  • Use heat to soften the adhesive — risk of damage if not done carefully.

    Insert an opening pick between the flex cable and the frame.
  • Separate the headphone jack from its housing using an opening pick.

If replacing only the headphone jack, peel it away from the Kapton tape.

If replacing the display, proceed to the next step.
