Step 1 | Remove the back cover and battery

Insert a fingernail or opening pick into the slot to release the plastic clips.

Be gentle to avoid damaging the clips.

  • Lift the battery upwards by its edges.

Step 2 | Midframe

Remove 11 Philips screws.

  • Pull the midframe outwards using a fingernail or an opening pick in the gap between the digitizer and midframe.
  • Disengage the clips on the bottom carefully, as the headphone jack passes through.
  • Move the midframe outwards and downwards to disengage it from the headphone jack once all clips are free.

Step 4 | Rear-Facing Camera

Use a Halberd spudger or an opening pick to carefully disconnect the front camera flex from its connector on the motherboard.

Step 5 | Motherboard Removal

Risk of damaging the motherboard — exercise care.

  • Disconnect the display flex cable using a Halberd spudger or an opening pick.
  • Insert an opening pick between the motherboard and frame from the bottom, levering them apart carefully.
  • Be cautious not to damage the long motherboard section.

The top motherboard is lightly adhered — apply gentle force only.

  • Compare the original and replacement display assemblies after removing the motherboard.
  • Some components may be pre-installed on the new assembly.

Step 6 | Ear Speaker Removal

Apply heat to soften the adhesive.

  • Insert a Jimmy between the flex cable and frame, detaching the cable from the adhesive.
  • Use the tip of a metal spudger to carefully pry up the ear speaker.
