LG Intuition Power Button Replacement

The power button is not functioning — troubleshoot or proceed with replacement at your own risk.

  • Replace the malfunctioning power button using this repair guide.

Step 1 | Battery

Turn the device to align the lowermost screws for access.

Use the P5 bit and magnetic driver to remove the two 7mm screws securing the back panel.

Step 3

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the back panel away from the front screen.

  • The back panel should now be removable, exposing the battery and other parts.

Step 4

Remove the 5mm screw using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Be careful not to damage the battery's ribbon cable protected by the metal bracket.

Step 5

Pry the ribbon cable connecting the battery to the motherboard using a plastic opening tool.

Lift the battery out of its holder carefully.

Step 7 | Plastic Motherboard Shield

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the thirteen 5mm screws.

  • The screws hold the plastic shield in place.
  • The shield covers the motherboard.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the plastic shield away from the motherboard.

  • The motherboard and ribbon cables will be exposed for each component.

Step 9 | Camera

Be cautious not to damage the ribbon cable or its connection.

  • Use the plastic opening tool to carefully pry the ribbon cable away from the motherboard.
  • Focus on the area below the camera itself, where the cable connects to the board.

Step 10

Lift the camera upwards, sliding the ribbon underneath to dislodge and remove it.

  • Pull the camera gently but firmly out of its housing.

Step 11 | Volume Buttons

  • Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the ribbon cable.
  • Slowly pull the ribbon cable upward, releasing the volume buttons.

Step 12 | Screen Protector

Careful when prying ribbon cables — risk of damage.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to pry the ribbon cable below the volume buttons on the left side.
  • Pry the next ribbon cable located to the left of the camera using the same tool.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the wire connecting to the bottom home and back display buttons.

  • Target the wire near the bottom edge of the device.

Be cautious not to damage nearby components.

Repeat this process for the second wire located on the right side of the battery, also connecting to the bottom home and back display buttons.

  • This wire is situated near the top-right edge of the device.

Risk of damage to both components — careful prying required.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry the motherboard away from the front screen.

  • Remove the 5mm Phillips #00 screw located below the volume buttons.
  • Next, remove the 5mm Phillips #00 screw situated at the top right corner of the phone.

Step 16

Gently lift the ribbon cable upwards, moving it away from the front screen display.

Step 17

Use the plastic opening tool to carefully pry the screen protector away from the display and motherboard.

Step 18

Separate the front screen from the screen protector slowly.

  • The screen protector should now be removed from the phone.

Step 19 | Power Button

Step 19 image

Slowly pry the power button away from the screen display.

Be gentle to avoid damaging surrounding components.
