LG Grace Rear Camera Replacement

If your LG Grace smartphone (model # LGL59BL) has a malfunctioning rear camera, follow this guide for replacement. The rear camera is usually the higher-fidelity camera and takes most photos. Its malfunction may vary; consult the troubleshooting wiki to narrow down possibilities.

Step 1 | Phone Assembly

Locate the thin crease at the phone's back edge.

  • Pry it open carefully with a nail.
  • If your nails are short, use a pry tool for assistance.

Remove the battery from the back of the phone.

  • Pry the battery out using the small indent provided, or
  • Flip the phone over and gently strike it against a firm surface.

Use a #00 Phillips screwdriver to remove all 11 screws visible on the back panel.

Note that these screws are M1.3 x 3 mm in size.

Insert a Jimmy into the small gap between the phone's screen and body.

  • Gently pry until it pops loose.
  • Remove the Jimmy.
  • Pry the body away from the screen with your hands, being slow and gentle.

Step 5 | Rear Camera

Locate the camera connector, identified by a red box in the guide photo.

  • Gently lift the camera module upwards, keeping it at an angle away from its connection point.
  • The camera should detach easily with minimal effort.
