Step 1 | SIM Card Tray

Power down and unplug your device.

  • Insert the SIM card eject tool into the pinhole on the lower right side.
  • Extract the SIM card and tray.

Step 2 | Back Panel

Place the phone with the screen facing down.

  • Insert opening cards between the back panel and frame of the phone.
  • Pry the back panel away from the phone using equal pressure.
  • Use an opening tool to completely separate the back panel once space has been created.

Step 3 | Midframe

Remove all 14 screws from the midframe with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

  • Use an opening tool to work around the perimeter of the midframe.
  • Pry carefully and remove the midframe from the phone.

Step 4 | Speaker System

Use an opening tool to gently pry the speaker system loose.

Step 5 | Headphone Jack

Use an opening tool to disconnect the ribbon cable connecting the 3.5mm audio jack to the motherboard.

  • Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screw holding the 3.5 mm audio jack in place.
  • Carefully lift out the audio jack from its recess.

Step 6 | Battery

Flip the phone so that the screen is facing up.

  • Apply heat using a heating pad, hairdryer, or heat gun to loosen the adhesive beneath the battery.
  • Be careful not to overheat the phone, as the screen and battery are susceptible to damage.

  • The adhesive may be difficult to soften; it may take multiple attempts.

Step 7

Disconnect the battery by prying up the ribbon cable with an opening tool.

Be careful when prying around the edges of the battery.

  • Pry around the edges of the battery using opening cards or an opening tool.
  • If it doesn't come loose, reapply heat or apply isopropyl alcohol under the battery and let it sit for a few minutes to loosen the adhesive.
  • Once the adhesive is weakened, remove the battery from your phone.

Step 9 | Motherboard

Disconnect the two coaxial cables from the motherboard using a opening tool.

  • Disconnect the screen ribbon cable from the motherboard using an opening tool.
  • Pry the motherboard away from the frame with an opening tool, then remove it from the phone.

Step 11 | Vibration Motor

Use an opening tool to pry out the vibration motor from the phone casing.

If necessary, apply heat to the other side of the vibration motor to loosen any adhesive holding it in place.
