LG G8 ThinQ Headphone Jack Replacement
Ensure you've ruled out software issues using our troubleshooting page before proceeding.
- Replace the headphone jack on your LG G8 ThinQ phone if it's not producing clear audio.
- Remove the back cover and some internal components to access the headphone jack.
- The rear panel uses adhesive for a secure fit, which can be replaced for improved factory-like results.
Step 1 | SIM Card Tray
Unplug and power off your device.
- Locate the pinhole on the lower right side of the phone, just above the SIM card slot.
- Insert a SIM card eject tool into the pinhole.
- Press and remove the SIM card and tray.
Step 2 | Back Panel
Position the phone with the screen facing down.
- Insert opening cards between the back panel and frame of the phone to loosen clips and adhesive.
- Pry the back panel away from the phone using equal pressure.
- Use an opening tool to completely separate the back panel once enough space has been created.
Step 3 | Midframe
Remove the midframe's 14 screws with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.
- Use an opening tool to carefully pry around the perimeter of the midframe.
- Gently lift and remove the midframe from the phone.
Step 4 | Speaker System
Use an opening tool to carefully pry the speaker system loose.
- Apply gentle pressure around the edges of the speaker system.
- Gently lift the speaker system out of its compartment.
Step 5 | Headphone Jack
Disconnect the ribbon cable using an opening tool.
- Remove the screw held by a Phillips #000 screwdriver.
- Free the audio jack from its position.
