LG G7 ThinQ Motherboard Replacement

This guide is for LG G7 ThinQ (model IMEI 358159091436289) phones experiencing rapid on/off cycling, random shutdowns, or screen malfunctioning issues.

  • The affected component is the motherboard (Main Board), responsible for controlling all phone functions and sending communications to other components.
  • A faulty motherboard can lead to power issues, screen malfunctions, and other problems.

Before starting, ensure the phone is completely powered off and disconnected from any power source.

Step 1 | SIM Card

Locate the SIM card slot on the top right of the phone.

  • Insert a SIM card eject tool into the slot's hole and push gently to eject the SIM card tray.
  • Remove the ejected SIM card tray from the phone.
  • Extract the SIM card from the tray.

Step 2 | Back Cover

Place the phone with the back cover facing upwards.

  • Insert each opening pick onto a side of the phone with equal pressure, starting one by one.
  • Special note: Loosen adhesive at top near cameras to facilitate case opening.

If picks are too thick, use the Jimmy to begin prying process carefully.

  • Use the pick with optimal leverage to pry the back cover away from the phone.

Step 3 | Speaker System

Remove the midframe first by following the teardown video's instructions.

  • Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove screws along the perimeter and central area of the phone.

Step 4 | Remove the speaker system

Remove the speaker system using either your fingers or a pair of tweezers.

Step 5 | Motherboard

Ensure the motherboard is completely separated from the battery.

  • Using your fingers or tweezers, carefully lift the motherboard out.
