LG G7 ThinQ Battery Replacement

A faulty battery can cause charging issues or prevent the phone from turning on.

  • Inspect the charging port for debris and clean it with an ESD-safe brush or small dust blower.
  • Test the charger with multiple phones to ensure it's not the issue.

If you suspect a swollen battery, refer to this link before proceeding.

  • Ensure the phone is powered off and disconnected from any power source.
  • This guide will walk you through replacing the battery in your LG G7 ThinQ (model IMEI: 358159091436289).

Step 1 | SIM Card

Insert the SIM card eject tool into the hole in the SIM card slot.

  • The SIM card tray should now be ejected; carefully lift it out of the phone.
  • Remove the SIM card from the ejected tray.

Step 2 | Back Cover

Place the phone with the back cover facing upwards.

  • Insert the opening picks, one by one, onto each side of the phone with equal pressure.
  • There is extra adhesive near the cameras at the top; loosen it to open the case.

  • If a pick doesn't fit, use the Jimmy to start the process.
  • Pry the back cover away from the phone using the pick with the best leverage.

Step 3 | Speaker System

Step 3 image

Ensure that your device is free from any additional components, such as a midframe, which may require separate removal.

  • Using a Phillips #000 screwdriver, remove screws along the phone's perimeter and central area.

Step 4 | Remove the speaker system

Step 4 image

Remove the speaker system with either your fingers or a pair of tweezers.

Step 5 | Remove the battery

Step 5 image

Use a nylon spudger to disconnect the two clips holding down the battery: one on the bottom and one on the top.

Be careful when removing the battery, as there is glue involved that may cause damage or injury if mishandled.

  • Pry the battery out of the phone with a nylon spudger.
  • Alternatively, slide a flat plastic card underneath the battery to separate it from the frame.

Do not reuse the removed battery – replace it with a new one to ensure safety and prevent potential hazards.
