LG G5 Camera Sensor Replacement

This guide addresses rear camera focus issues. If your device's rear camera struggles with focusing, proceed to the repair instructions below.

Hold the battery release button and pull the bottom end of the phone out.

Beware of sharp edges — handle with care.

Insert sim card eject tool (0.8mm sim card eject head) into small hole.

  • Press inward firmly to eject sim card tray.
  • Pull sim card tray out of phone.

  • Remove two Phillips #00 screws with a 5.5mm diameter from the phone's base.

Insert plastic opening tool into the seam between glass screen and metal body.

  • Pry glass from body only a slight amount.

Insert Spudger into space between body and screen.

  • Push inward to separate screen further.
  • Slowly slide Spudger up edge of phone until screen pops out.

When reassembling, press edges down from top to bottom for a secure fit.

Separate the screen and body by peeling them apart.

  • The screen should come away cleanly, leaving both parts fully separated.

Remove the motherboard by undoing its retaining mechanism.

  • Use a #00 Philips head screwdriver to loosen the six 2.7mm Phillips screws.

Insert plastic opening tool between screen-ribbon-connector and motherboard, then pull up firmly.

  • Remove all screws securing the motherboard to the screen.
  • Gently pry the motherboard away from the screen using a plastic spudger.

Failing to transfer the earpiece from the old screen will result in no phone call audio.

  • Transfer the earpiece to the new screen carefully.
  • Use a pick to gently dislodge it, rather than forcing with tweezers.
  • Exercise caution when handling the associated adhesive to prevent accidental removal.

  • Remove the old earpiece casing from its mounting by carefully prying it out with a pair of tweezers.
  • On the new screen, place the earpiece casing down first and ensure it's securely locked in place.
  • Gently press the earpiece onto the casing with your finger until it's firmly seated.

Remove the ribbon connecting the sensor to the motherboard with a plastic opening tool.
