LG G4 Screen Assembly Replacement

This guide covers replacing the full screen assembly, including the LCD, digitizer, and display frame. If your part lacks a display frame, refer to the LCD Digitizer replacement guide for a more complex procedure.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Ensure the phone is fully powered down.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the groove located at the bottom left side of the device.
  • Gently pry the rear cover upwards to remove it.

Position the plastic opening tool at the battery's lower edge.

  • Lift upwards on the tool to loosen the battery.
  • Gently remove the battery from its housing using both hands.

Remove the 11 x 3.9 mm Phillips #00 screws located at the back of the device.

Insert the plastic opening tool into the lower left corner.

  • Lift the cover firmly upwards.
  • Remove the cover using only your fingers.

Step 5 | Motherboard

Careful removal of connectors is essential to prevent damage.

  • Use a plastic spudger or opening tool to carefully remove:
    • F front-facing camera connector
    • R rear-facing camera connector
    • D digitizer connector

Check for adhesive tape securing the rear-facing camera. Gently pry it with the spudger before lifting the motherboard to prevent damage.

  • Lift the motherboard upwards.
  • Use a plastic opening tool and your fingers for support.

Step 7 | Screen Assembly

Apply heat to the auxiliary port using a heat gun or iOpener

Insert nylon spudger into the auxiliary port and gently pry upward to release.

Step 9 | Other components

Remove the vibration motor from the old display.

  • Locate the small circular component with two gold contacts. Remove it using a spudger.
  • Take out the ear-speaker and set it aside.
  • Remove the two rubber covers on either side of the ear-speaker.

Be careful when handling these delicate components to avoid damage.

  • Transfer these components to their corresponding positions in the new display assembly.
