LG G4 Motherboard Replacement

This guide explains motherboard replacement procedures.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Power down the phone.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the groove on the bottom left side of the LG G4.
  • Pry up the rear cover gently with the plastic opening tool.

Position the plastic opening tool at the battery's lower edge.

  • Lift upwards on the tool to dislodge the battery.
  • Remove the battery with care, using your hands.

Remove the eleven 3.9 mm Phillips #00 screws located at the back of the phone.

Place the plastic opening tool in the lower left corner and firmly lift the cover up.

  • Use your fingers to detach the cover once it's been lifted.

Be careful when handling the rear-facing camera as it may be secured by two-sided tape.

  • Remove the front-facing camera connector with a flat-edged tool.
  • Next, remove the rear-facing camera connector, taking care to avoid damaging its cable.
  • Disconnect the digitizer connector using the same tool.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to lift the motherboard.
  • Assisted with your fingers, gently lift the motherboard.
