LG G4 LCD and Digitizer Replacement

Replace the cracked/damaged LCD screen and digitizer assembly in your LG G4 smartphone.

  • Use a pre-cut LG G4 adhesive strip or Tesa 61395 tape to secure the new screen.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Power down the phone.

  • Locate the groove on the bottom left side of the device, then place a plastic opening tool inside.
  • Gently pry up the rear cover.

Locate the plastic opening tool and position it at the bottom edge of the battery.

  • Lift upwards on the battery using the tool.
  • Gently remove the battery from its compartment with your hands.

  • Remove the 11 Phillips #00 screws located at the back using a screwdriver.

Remove all screws.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the lower left corner.
  • Lift the cover upwards firmly, then detach it by hand.

Remove the front-facing camera connector, rear-facing camera connector, and digitizer connector with a plastic spudger or opening tool.

  • Try to move the rear-facing camera gently first, as it may be secured by two-sided tape.
  • If the camera does not budge, use the spudger to carefully pry it from the frame.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully lift the motherboard, assisting with your fingers if necessary.

Step 7 | Screen Assembly

Apply a heat gun or iOpener to the auxiliary port to loosen the surrounding adhesive.

  • Target the area around the port where it meets the plastic housing.

Insert a nylon spudger into the auxiliary port and carefully pry upward to release it.

Step 9 | Other components

Careful removal required — damage to surrounding components is possible.

  • Remove the vibration motor using a spudger.
  • Transfer the removed vibration motor to the new display assembly.
  • Repeat for the ear-speaker, removing it with a spudger.
  • Remove the two rubber covers on either side of the ear-speaker and transfer them to the new display assembly.

Remove the digitizer ribbon cable's adhesive strip using a pair of tweezers.

Insert the flat side of a nylon spudger under the digitizer ribbon cable.

  • Use your fingers to gently pull the ribbon cable as you free it from the adhesive.
  • If necessary, apply more heat to loosen the adhesive further.

Apply gentle heat from a heat gun or an iOpener along the edges of the screen.

Use a heavy-duty suction cup and firmly pull the screen away from the frame to create a small gap.

Do not apply excessive force, as there may be a thin strip of adhesive holding the screen in place.

If the screen is difficult to free, apply additional heat along the edges of the phone to aid removal.

Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap between the screen and the plastic housing.

  • Slide the plastic opening pick along the border of the screen to break any additional adhesive.
  • Continue sliding until the screen assembly is completely free.

  • Remove the LCD screen & digitizer assembly.
  • Gently feed the digitizer ribbon cable through the frame, taking care not to damage it.
