This guide is for replacing a broken or worn-out screen assembly with midframe in LG G3 (D855) devices, showing how to swap the entire assembly including midframe and transfer components like vibration motor, cameras, and earpiece speaker during repair. Alternatively, if you only want to replace the LCD without midframe, follow this guide.
Power off the device before starting disassembly.
Remove the back cover to release all plastic clips.
Insert a fingernail or prying tool into the marked notch.
Remove the battery from its compartment.
Remove the four #00 Phillips screws, each 4mm in length.
Insert a thumbnail or spudger into the notch at the bottom left of the back cover.
Gently pull the plastic panel, including the loudspeaker, away from the phone assembly.
Remove the Phillips #00 screws, 8 in total. Each screw is 4mm long.
Be careful not to damage the motherboard or clips.
Locate and carefully lift the right edge of the motherboard cover.
Disconnect the display flex cable by gently prying it loose with a spudger.
Use a spudger to gently pry up and release the digitizer flex cable.
Disconnect the rear camera flex cable by prying it loose with a spudger.
Use a spudger to gently pry up and release the front camera flex cable.
Slowly rotate the opening pick while prying the motherboard from its recess, starting with the bottom right corner.
Insert the opening pick under the right edge of the motherboard, near the SIM card slot. Rotate the opening pick sideways to pry the motherboard up.
Grasp the motherboard's top section securely.
Lift upwards, being cautious not to damage any components.
Apply a iOpener to the top end of the screen and heat it until the adhesive is loosened.
Remove the earpiece speaker along with its attached foam gasket.
Remove the front camera using a pair of tweezers.
Reapply the iOpener to soften the adhesive.
Insert one tweezer arm under the vibration motor and gently pry it upwards.
Apply heat from a iOpener to the bottom edge of the screen for 2-3 minutes.
Remove the headphone jack using the pointed end of a spudger.
Remove the daughterboard using a pair of tweezers.
Be careful not to damage surrounding components.
Compare your new replacement part to the original part.
