LG G3 Motherboard Replacement

Step 1 | Back Cover

Power down your device completely.

  • Insert a thin tool, such as a thumbnail or spudger, into the notch at the bottom left of the back cover.
  • Pry the back cover up to release its plastic clips.

Lift the back cover to release all plastic clips.

  • Slide your fingernail or prying tool around the midframe if it won't budge, releasing remaining clips.

Press firmly into place until you hear a snap from the plastic clips for proper connection.

Step 3 | Battery

Use a fingernail or a prying tool at the marked notch to gently pry the battery out.

  • Position the tool at the marked notch.
  • Apply gentle pressure to lever the battery out of its recess.

Step 4

Remove the battery from its housing.

Step 5 | Loudspeaker

Remove Phillips #00 screws, 4 in total.

  • Screw length: 4mm.

  • Insert a thumbnail or a plastic spudger into the notch at the bottom left of the back cover.
  • Pry up the plastic panel, including the loudspeaker, to get a good grip.

Step 7

Remove the plastic panel, including the loudspeaker, by gently pulling it away from the phone assembly.

Step 8 | Motherboard Cover Assembly

Remove Phillips #00 screws, 8 in total, with a length of 4 mm.

Insert an opening pick between the bottom right corner of the motherboard cover and the motherboard.

  • Pry up the motherboard cover until the plastic clips are open.
  • If necessary, rotate the opening pick sideways to loosen the clips.
  • Work along the right edge to complete removal.

Lift the right edge of the motherboard cover carefully.

  • The plastic clips should release as you lift, or open them manually if necessary.
  • Remove the motherboard assembly.

Step 11 | Motherboard

Disconnect the display flex cable by prying it loose with a spudger.

Insert spudger under the digitizer flex cable, carefully pry up to release the connector.

Use a spudger to gently pry up and release the rear camera flex cable.

Disconnect the front camera flex cable using a spudger.

Step 15

Be careful not to damage the flex cables you previously disconnected.

  • Insert an opening pick under the bottom right corner of the motherboard and gently pry it out by rotating the opening pick sideways.

  • Opening pick: Insert the tip under the right edge of the motherboard near the SIM card slot.
  • Pry upwards by rotating the opening pick sideways.

Step 17

Hold the motherboard firmly by its top edge.

Careful not to touch any electrical components — risk of damage or shock.

Lift the motherboard straight up and out of the phone.
