LG G3 Vigor Display Assembly Replacement

This guide is for replacing the display assembly in an LG G3 Vigor.

Step 1 | Rear Case

Locate the notch at the bottom right corner of the phone.

Locate and gently remove the back cover from the phone.

  • Grasp the back cover carefully, then gently pull it away from the phone.
  • The battery should now be visible inside the phone.

Step 3 | Battery

Release the battery from its slot at the bottom.

Step 4 | Midframe

Remove the twelve Phillips #00 screws securing the midframe to the rest of the phone.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the midframe away from the rest of the phone, working your way around its edges.

Step 6 | Rear Facing Camera

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the motherboard using a spudger.

Be careful not to damage the ribbon cable.

  • Remove the rear facing camera

Step 7 | Front Facing Camera

  • Use a spudger to gently remove the ribbon cable from the motherboard.
  • Take out the front camera.

Step 8 | Motherboard

Disconnect the motherboard ribbon connector using the flat edge of a spudger.

Push the motherboard retaining flaps back using the pointed end of a spudger.

  • The motherboard can then be removed from the device.

Step 10 | Vibration Motor

Remove the vibration motor using a spudger.

Some force may be required due to potential adhesive.

Step 11 | Earpiece Speaker

Remove the earpiece speaker using a metal spudger, prying it out.

Step 12 | Headphone Jack

Insert the spudger into the headphone jack and pull upwards.

  • The jack should come loose and be removable.

Step 13 | Display Assembly

Peel back the glued-down ribbon cable using a pair of tweezers.

Be careful not to damage any internal components.

Step 14

Apply heat to the screen's edges using a heat gun or the iFixit iOpener tool.

  • Wait a few minutes for the adhesive to loosen.
  • Use a metal spudger or flat tool to pry under the screen's edge.
  • Work your way around the perimeter, prying off the screen.

Step 15

Remove the screen from the device by pulling the ribbon cables through the hole.

  • Pull the ribbon cables through the hole in the device.
  • Once free, remove the screen completely.
