LG G2 Charging Port Replacement

The LG G2, excluding F320 Korean variants, features a replaceable charging port. To access this port, you'll need to remove the Sub board/Daughterboard. This guide is also essential for simpler repairs like battery and screen replacements, as these components are located underneath the Sub board.

Step 1 | Removing the rear cover

Be cautious when prying the back cover — risk of damage or injury.

  • Remove the SIM Card tray.
  • Pry the back cover with your nails, then use a guitar pick to assist removal.

Step 2 | Remove the screws

Choose either the top speaker or bottom speaker to remove.

  • Ensure the screws have been removed from the chosen speaker part.

Step 3 | Disconnect the connections

Disconnect the battery first to prevent short circuits and accidents.

  • Remove the top digitizer connector.
  • Disconnect the sub board/Daugtherboard connections.
  • Disconnect the screen connection.
  • Remove the bottom digitizer connector.
  • Disconnect all antennas.

When removing Daughterboard connectors, use tweezers to remove the EMI Shield along with the connectors. However, be cautious when using this method.

Step 4 | Freeing up the daughterboard

Make sure the EMI shield is removed, exposing the eMMC chip.

  • Use tweezers to carefully remove the daughterboard.

Do not insert any tool too far into the headphone jack as it may be damaged.

You can use a screwdriver or tweezers for this task.

Step 5 | Congrats

Remove the daughterboard to access the charging port.

This procedure is applicable for all LG G2 variants, except Korean models.

  • This guide can be used for basic repairs such as battery replacement or screen repair.
  • Motherboard repairs also require this step to be completed.

Be patient and careful when removing the sub-board, as adhesives may cause difficulties.
